Meetings and interviews · iPhone and Mac
Every meeting,
distilled.
précis records the room, transcribes it while you are still talking, works out who said what, and hands you the summary with every commitment made. Then it deletes the audio.
Live transcript arrives about every 25 seconds while recording
What it does
Notes you would have taken,
if you had been free to take them.
Live transcript
Words appear while you are still talking, in roughly 25-second passes. Pause and resume without losing a line.
Speakers, named
The finished recording is diarized and speakers are named from the introductions in the conversation. Rename, reassign, or merge in two taps.
Summary and action items
An overview, the key points, and every commitment made — with the person who owns it and the date they said.
Interview mode
Paste the job description and précis tracks coverage live: what is still missing, what to ask next, and a requirement report at the end.
Ask your library
Ask one question across every session you have ever recorded. The answer comes back with the meetings it came from.
The call, not just your mic
On the Mac, précis captures system audio alongside the microphone — so Zoom, Meet, and Teams come through both sides of the conversation.
Interview mode
It sits in on the interview
and keeps score.
Paste the job description before you start. While you are still in the room, précis re-reads the transcript roughly every 25 seconds and tells you what the candidate has not covered yet — with two to four concrete follow-ups you could ask next.
When the interview ends you get a coverage report: every significant requirement, whether it was addressed, and the candidate's own words as evidence. Anything still uncovered comes back as questions for a second round.
-
Live, not afterwards. Gaps and questions refresh while you talk, so the interview improves in the room instead of in the write-up.
-
Evidence, not impressions. Every covered requirement is backed by what was actually said, quoted or closely paraphrased.
-
Shareable as it stands. The coverage report emails as a formatted debrief — nothing for the panel to open or decode.
While you are recording
Gaps
- No example of leading a migration under a deadline
- On-call and incident experience not discussed
- Notice period and start date still unknown
Ask next
"Walk me through the last migration you owned end to end — what slipped, and what did you do about it?"
"Tell me about a page you were on call for. What broke, and who did you pull in?"
Job requirement coverage
Seven of nine requirements addressed. Strong on distributed systems and mentoring; nothing yet on incident response.
Five years of backend Swift or Go
"Six years on the payments service, most of it in Go, the last two in Swift on the client side."
Has mentored junior engineers
"I ran our intern programme for two summers — three of them converted."
Production incident response
Not addressed — carried forward as a follow-up question.
The promise
Précis keeps the notes,
not the conversation.
The recording exists only long enough to be transcribed. Once the transcript is safe, the audio file is deleted from the device — and it was never uploaded anywhere for safekeeping in the first place.
Audio deleted after transcription
Not archived, not synced, not kept "for quality". Deleted.
Text syncs, audio never does
Transcripts and summaries follow you between iPhone and Mac through your own iCloud. The recording stays put.
Nothing to sign up for
No précis account. Purchases and sync ride on the Apple account you already have.
How it works
Four steps, and you do one of them.
01
Start the session
Meeting or interview, microphone or the whole call. Or drop in a recording you already have.
02
Watch it transcribe
The transcript builds as the conversation happens, so you can stop taking notes and take part instead.
03
Get the précis
Named speakers, an overview, the key points, and the action items — ready to email as a finished message.
04
The audio goes away
Once the transcript is safe, the recording is deleted. What is left is the record you wanted.
iPhone
In the room
Pocket-sized, and it keeps recording while the screen is off. Share sheet support means an iPhone call recording becomes a session in one tap.
Mac
On the call
Captures your microphone and the system audio together, mixed into one stream — the fix for headphones, where the other side never reaches the mic.
One purchase covers both. précis Pro is available monthly or yearly — the current price is shown in the App Store and on the subscription screen in the app.
